Every spring, Introdans presents the work of a single choreographer in a dedicated focus program. In 2026, the spotlight is on renowned choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. LARBI is an exploration of Cherkaoui’s signature as a creator — but also a tribute to resilience. His virtuosic dance language, musicality, and courage to embrace stillness align seamlessly with Introdans’ artistic spirit. Cherkaoui’s versatile and often poetic approach resonates from Arnhem to Los Angeles. International icons such as Beyoncé and Madonna have also sought collaborations with this Flemish-Moroccan choreographer. The evening features the ballets Fall, In Memoriam, and Crash. For this special focus program, Cherkaoui is creating new versions of both Fall and Crash exclusively for Introdans. Fall Fall refers both to the falling and changing colors of autumn leaves and to the constant battle of the (dancer’s) body against gravity. In this piece, Cherkaoui crafts feather-light duets and large-scale group scenes. Set to meditative music by Arvo Pärt, he sculpts with the dancers like a sculptor shaping clay. This choreography from the Introdans repertoire is a celebration of pure dance. In Memoriam This contemporary masterpiece about loss and remembrance is deeply emotional. It serves as a tribute to the choreographer’s ancestors. Rustling skirts and rapidly flowing video imagery propel the dancers forward in this meditative performance. Crash For dancer/choreographer Marc Brew, a car accident radically changed his life in an instant. In Crash, he expresses his resilience in a unique way. How does one continue to dance when the body is out of balance? Introdans presents a new adaptation of this inclusive choreography, focusing on the exploration of Brew’s new physical reality. About the Choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is unmatched in his ability to translate charged themes — such as otherness, collectivity, the search for identity, faith, and desire — into powerful stories, expressed through a poetic and often hypnotic dance style. He fuses numerous dance forms into a coherent whole. Cherkaoui has worked with many esteemed dance companies and theatres around the world.
