While Taking Shape is an intimate dance performance that explores gestures as portals to memory and as connectors between bodies and experiences.
In this performance, performers and audience share the space, visible to each other. The choreography emerges from the gestures of the audience: they are echoed, stretched, reversed, and reshaped. Through this, the work invites us to reflect on what it means to bear witness.
How is the performer’s body connected to that of the spectator? How does the gaze move between them? How far - or how close - are they to each other?
In a time of image overload - where we doomscroll, often disconnected from what we see - While Taking Shape invites us to slow down, to notice what is small, to sense stillness as movement, to hear what’s quiet.

In deze voorstelling delen performers en publiek dezelfde ruimte, zichtbaar voor elkaar. De choreografie ontstaat vanuit de gebaren van het publiek: ze worden weerkaatst, uitgerekt, omgekeerd en opnieuw gevormd. Zo nodigt het werk uit tot reflectie op wat het betekent om getuige te zijn. Hoe is het lichaam van de performer verbonden met dat van de toeschouwer? Hoe verplaatst de blik zich tussen hen? Hoe dichtbij – of hoe ver – staan ze van elkaar af?
In tijden van overvloed aan beelden – waarin we doomscrollen en vaak los staan van wat we zien, nodigt While Taking Shape ons uit om te vertragen, het kleine op te merken, stilstand als beweging te ervaren, en te luisteren naar wat stil is.
