“Before we all get to the knowing, all will be gone." - Benjamin Clementine
We’re thrilled to present the first full-length evening by our new associate choreographer Marcos Morau. This world premiere invites you to fully explore Morau’s imaginative space between contemporary dance and physical theatre. Inspired by the music and life of renowned composer Benjamin Clementine, the work urges us not to lose the connection with ourselves or each other.

Morau is known for his visually striking worlds that feel surreal yet human. In earlier creations for NDT, including Folkå (2021) and Horses (2024), he blends abstract movement with dramaturgical detail to create bold images that linger in the imagination.
In his new work, created in collaboration with the NDT 1 dancers, Morau presents a theatrical experience where the evocative music of Benjamin Clementine is part of the atmosphere. Each song opens a door to a world that accelerates, splinters, and watches itself without rest. Loneliness, loss, and the need to belong manifest in the dancers’ bodies, not as private stories, but as something shared.
At its core, this creation reaches for something simple and urgent: closeness.
Morau imagines the stage as a shared ritual, holding the belief that, while the music lasts, we can still be together and connect, even when our reality seems to say otherwise.
Geïnspireerd door de muziek en het leven van componist Benjamin Clementine roept dit nieuwe werk op om onszelf en elkaar niet uit het oog te verliezen.

Morau staat bekend om het creëren van visueel indrukwekkende werken die zowel menselijk als surrealistisch aanvoelen. Net als in eerdere creaties voor NDT, zoals Folkå (2021) en Horses (2024), is hij een meester in het combineren van abstracte bewegingen met theatrale details – voor een gewaagde theaterervaring die je lang bijblijft.
In dit nieuwe werk, gecreëerd in samenwerking met de NDT 1-dansers, toont Morau een indrukwekkend landschap met de beeldende muziek van Benjamin Clementine. Elk nummer is als een deur die opent naar een wereld die versnelt, versplintert en zichzelf vol onrust observeert. Eenzaamheid, verlies en het verlangen om erbij te horen worden zichtbaar in de lijven van de dansers, niet als individuele verhalen, maar als een gedeelde waarheid.
In essentie is deze creatie een noodkreet om iets simpels en urgents: nabijheid.
Morau verbeeldt een gedeeld ritueel op het podium waarin we, zolang de muziek klinkt, het vertrouwen kunnen hebben dat we met elkaar kunnen verbinden en samen kunnen komen. Zelfs als onze realiteit iets anders lijkt te suggereren.
