What if we shift power from control to care, from greed to grace and inequality to belonging? What if liberation begins not with answers, but with the courage to feel, to listen, and to speak from places long denied.
Translating re-imagining as resistance into embodied practice, we offer two hands-on masterclasses led by Rotterdam-based professional performing artists.
- Mathieu Wijdeven, house theatermaker at Theater Rotterdam, works across fine art, video, and performance. He will lead an artistic composition workshop on creating from ancestral sources.
- Kim & Marta are performance makers who blend circus and dance. They have worked with DV8, Ann van den Broek, Panama Pictures, and Arch 8. Combining their shared experience and complementary skill sets, they will lead a physical partnering workshop focusing on softness and receptiveness. Comfortable clothing is advised.
These masterclasses are designed to pair with the Welcome To Our Guesthouse program; together they embody the idea of re-imagining as resistance. They are also a space for exchange - where you can experiment, reflect, and grow alongside other emerging makers. You’ll work in a supportive and collaborative setting, with feedback and inspiration coming from both facilitators and your fellow participants.
After the workshops, there will be a chance to ask questions about Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam. The Masterclasses are free, but selected participants are asked to reserve a ticket for the evening performance.

Two groups of 12 participants will take two back-to-back 90-minute workshops.

Who are we looking for
Advanced performing arts students with maker ambitions, and experienced emerging makers in the Dutch arts field (you have created at least one or two performances outside an educational setting). You’re eager to expand your identity as a creator and to deepen your practice—both hands-on and reflective.
How to apply
Send a short email to productiehuis@theaterrotterdam.nl by November 1. Describe your artistic background and briefly explain how participating in the workshops—and attending the Welcome To Our Guesthouse evening performance—would strengthen your practice. Selected participants will be contacted in early November.
