Welcome To Our Guesthouse - the artist-in-residence program of Theater Rotterdam - offers emerging makers the space and facilities to research, exchange and present their works-in-progress to the public. This year the makers are Adam Khazhmuradov, Hendrickx Ntela and Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit.

Welcome To Our Guesthouse – hét artist-in-residenceprogramma van Theater Rotterdam – biedt opkomende makers de ruimte en faciliteiten om te onderzoeken, uit te wisselen en hun work-in-progress met publiek te delen. Dit jaar zijn de makers Adam Khazhmuradov, Hendrickx Ntela en Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit.

In plaats van alleen eindproducten te presenteren, nodigt Welcome To Our Guesthouse je uit om onderdeel te worden van het maakproces. Verwacht een showcase van een nieuwe generatie makers, met work-in-progress: rauw, onaf en volop in beweging. Voor dit programma ondergaat TR8 zijn jaarlijkse transformatie tot een bruisend landschap vol nieuw werk, verrassende installaties, contextprogramma’s en mooie ontmoetingen. Beweeg via een theatrale route door het gebouw, van maker naar maker. A night to discover what’s next.

Dit jaar maak je kennis met drie interessante makers. De Brusselse Krump-choreograaf Hendrickx Ntela onderzoekt hoe leegte ruimte kan maken voor zachtheid en nuance. Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit is Vibrationalist en bouwt DIY-muziekinstrumenten. Met klank en frequenties maakt hij immersieve performances over herinnering, trauma en koloniaal bewustzijn. De Rotterdamse dansmaker Adam Khazhmuradov gebruikt lichamen en licht om onze ervaring van theater te dekoloniseren en ruimte te maken voor neurodivergente manieren van waarnemen.

Instead of presenting finished performances, Welcome To Our Guesthouse invites you into the process. Expect a showcase of next-generation makers, where you’ll encounter works-in-progress: raw, unfinished and in motion. For this program, TR8 undergoes its annual transformation, becoming a vibrant landscape of new work, exciting installations, context programs and fresh encounters. Move through the building along a theatrical track, from artist to artist. A night to discover what’s next.

This year we have three exciting artists. Hendrickx Ntela is a Brussels-based Krump choreographer, exploring emptiness as a space for softness and nuance to emerge. Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit is a Vibrationalist, inventing DIY musical instruments with frequencies for immersive performances that explore memory, trauma, and colonial consciousness. Rotterdam-based dancemaker Adam Khazhmuradov uses bodies and light to decolonize and neurodiversify our experience of the theater.

Pay what you want
For Welcome To Our Guesthouse we use our Pay what you want principle. You can order a ticket for 18, 15 or 11 euros. Visitors aged 30 and under can attend for a fixed price of 10 euros.

Duration
This is an evening-length program from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the latest. We end each night with a drink.

Accessibility
Welcome To Our Guesthouse is a two-hour walking route. Unfortunately, it isn’t accessible for wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility. We understand this may be disappointing. Please get in touch if you have questions about access or need advice, and we’ll do our best to help.

Practice What We Preach
On Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, we will have artistic practice workshops for a small group of invited participants. More info coming soon.
