"What do we bury in the earth, never to speak of again? What can we, as dancers, set in motion and bring to the surface? What rhythm do these waves and their echoes possess, and do those echoes fall back into a feedback loop, a sea of ​​noise?"

Ciro Mongarfa Goudsmit investigates frequencies as a physical, emotional, and material phenomenon within an artistic practice. The research originates from experiences with therapy, meditation, and decolonization, where bodily vibrations became forms of emotional release and processing. This led to a central question: How does the body carry emotions and memory, and how can these be made tangible through vibration, rhythm, and movement? Developed further during studies at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO), Ciro’s practice connects body, technology, and history, using vibration as a medium between performer and audience, individual and environment, and past and present.

During Welcome To Our Guesthouse, Ciro continues the development of Tectonics: an attempt to slow down and synchronize with the earth’s pulse, bringing together the spiritual, the electric, and the bodily. In this world, nature takes over: the swamp rises and bodies dive deep into the earth, moving with the spirits hidden in its crust. With Tectonics, Ciro deepens a practice as a Vibrationalist through world-building, working with a team of clubbers, nerds, and sound professors to create an immersive experience in which even the audience’s breath becomes part of the piece.
