After previous success, RIDCC (Rotterdam International Dance Choreography Competition) will once again present the unique LGBTQIA+ dance workshop. Choreographer and dancer Dario Tortorelli offers the workshop in collaboration with the lgbtqia+ sports club Ketelbinkie.
The modern dance workshop is open to all genders, all levels and all bodies and will take place on the stage of Theater Rotterdam. In 2016, Italian dancer and choreographer Dario Tortorelli founded DiVEinD, which focuses on the visual poetry of the performing body. Dario has danced with Introdans, Conny Janssen Danst and Ann Van den Broek, among others, and teaches at various international dance companies and institutions.
Workshop participants are also invited to attend the outdoor performance Fάrιsa of Danae and Dionysios on Schouwburgplein!
As co-initiator of the event, Ketelbinkie, the largest lgbtqia+ sports association in the Netherlands, is offering participants the opportunity to attend the dance workshop and performance free of charge.
“We believe in the importance of a sustainable culture of equality, diversity and inclusion. Where choreographers, regardless of their origin, gender, or sexual preference, can fully grow and develop their talent. That is why RIDCC feels related to Ketelbinkie. We are therefore proud to jointly offer this modern dance workshop by the renowned Dario Tortorelli and tickets for the grand finale of the RIDCC competition.”
Maya Roest & Mischa van Leeuwen - artistic directors & founders RIDCC“As the largest lgbtqia+ sports club in the Netherlands, Ketelbinkie offers ten sports, in teams and individually. One of them is dancing, where we listen carefully to our community and their wishes. To meet these requests we are offering workshops that always focus on a different dance style. As a result, the collaboration with RIDCC and Theater Rotterdam fits perfectly with what we have in mind for the community."
