Tijdens de 6e editie van RIDCC (Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition) wordt een gratis pop-up Krump workshop aangeboden in samenwerking met The Gully District. De workshop wordt gegeven door niemand minder dan Ques, de Nederlandse pionier van Krump en oprichter van The Gully District.

Op zaterdag 22 juni van 16.30-17.30 uur kun je meedoen aan deze gratis workshop Krump. Krump is ontstaan rond 2000 in Los Angelos, California en staat bekend om de intensieve, emotionele en expressieve bewegingen. De naam K.R.U.M.P. staat voor ‘Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise’, en is een verhalende energieke manier van expressie. In de workshop wordt je meegenomen in de wereld van Krump en leer je de essentie van de dansstijl. Ques gaat aan de slag met de basics ervan en zorgt dat je aan het einde lekker bezweet bent. De workshop is toegankelijk voor jeugd, jongeren en volwassenen vanuit allerlei verschillende culturele achtergronden en sociale klassen. Danservaring is niet nodig. Iedereen is welkom om mee te doen!

Michael Zaalman aka Ques heeft al bijna twee decennia lang een carrière in dans. Als Krump pionier in Nederland was hij een van de eerste Krump dansers in Europa. Zo heeft hij onder andere deelgenomen aan en gejureerd bij allerlei (inter)nationale battles en heeft hij lessen verzorgd aan uiteenlopende dansscholen en academies. Ook is hij onderdeel geweest en nog steeds, van diverse media en theater producties, waaronder Club Guy & Roni, NITE, ‘The Underground’. 

The Gully District is een sociaal-cultureel en artistiek platform. De 'rondtrekkende' dansschool in Rotterdam Noord met een thuisbasis is in Het Klooster Oude Noorden. Dans, en met name de dansstijl KRUMP 'Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise' is van essentieel belang voor persoonlijke (en collectieve) ontwikkeling.

De workshop is gratis en vindt plaats óp het Schouwburgplein. Aanmelding en ervaring is niet nodig.

During the 6th edition of RIDCC (Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition), a free pop-up Krump workshop will be offered in collaboration with The Gully District. The workshop will be given by none other than Ques, the Dutch pioneer of Krump and founder of The Gully District.

On Saturday, June 22, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., you can participate in this free Krump workshop. Krump originated around 2000 in Los Angelos, California and is known for its intense, emotional and expressive movements. The name K.R.U.M.P. stands for "Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise," and is a narrative energetic way of expression. The workshop will take you into the world of Krump and teach you the essence of the dance style. Ques will get down to the basics of it and make sure you are nice and sweaty by the end. The workshop is open to youth, young adults and adults from a variety of cultural backgrounds and social classes. Dance experience is not necessary. Everyone is welcome to join in!

Michael Zaalman aka Ques has had a career in dance for nearly two decades. As a Krump pioneer in the Netherlands, he was one of the first Krump dancers in Europe. Among other things, he has participated and judged in all kinds of (inter)national battles and has taught classes at a variety of dance schools and academies. He has also been, and still is, part of various media and theater productions, including Club Guy & Roni, NITE, "The Underground.

The Gully District is a socio-cultural and artistic platform. The 'itinerant' dance school in Rotterdam North with a home base is in Het Klooster Oude Noorden. Dance, and in particular the dance style KRUMP 'Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise' is essential for personal (and collective) development.
