This unique performance is born from the meeting of two distinct artistic worlds: François Chaignaud, a dancer, singer, and performer who uses his voice to express deep sensory and spiritual experiences, and Aymeric Hainaux, a versatile artist, beatboxer, and musician who experiments with repetitive phrases, beats, audio feedback, and shouts. Both fascinated by each other’s work, they entered the studio with a desire to push their musical boundaries. They aimed to explore uncharted territories of song and rhythm, creating their own unique musical and physical form of expression.
On stage, they treat it as a dynamic playground with ever-changing rules, using their voices, feet, and arms to craft a performance of uneven rhythms. Their love for blending musical traditions drives them to find a point of vibratory resonance. Whether observing, clashing, connecting, or listening, their duo resembles a mirliton—a term that in French can mean a small flute, a headpiece, a gold coin, or a type of pastry: multifaceted, resonant, and elusive.
We are happy to have François back in Rotterdam. In 2022, we presented his wonderful work Symphonia at Feeling Curious?, and in 2023, in collaboration with the O festival, the acclaimed T u m u l u s.
Bio
François Chaignaud lives and works in Paris. Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse, he blends dance and song, drawing from diverse sources of inspiration. His work explores the potential of the human body, grounded in historical references from erotic literature to sacred art.
Aymeric Hainaux is a multiple award winner at the French Beatbox Championship, comic book artist, visual artist, and poet, renowned for his intensely physical beatboxing style. His music emerges from his voice, breath, muscle tension, movements, heartbeat, and sudden bursts of sound, celebrating life.

Deze unieke voorstelling is ontstaan uit de ontmoeting van twee verschillende artistieke werelden: François Chaignaud, een danser, zanger en performer die zijn stem gebruikt om diepe zintuiglijke en spirituele ervaringen uit te drukken, en Aymeric Hainaux, een veelzijdige kunstenaar, beatboxer en muzikant die experimenteert met repetitieve frasen, beats, audiofeedback en kreten. Gefascineerd door elkaars werk, gingen ze de studio in met de wens om hun muzikale grenzen te verleggen. Ze wilden onontgonnen gebieden van zang en ritme verkennen en creëerden hun eigen unieke muzikale en fysieke vorm van expressie.
Het podium beschouwen ze als een dynamische speelplaats met voortdurend veranderende regels, waarbij ze hun stemmen, voeten en armen gebruiken om een aaneenschakeling van oneven ritmes te maken. Hun liefde voor het samenbrengen van muzikale tradities drijft hen om een punt van vibrerende resonantie te vinden. Of ze nu observeren, botsen, verbinden of luisteren, hun duo lijkt op een mirliton - een term die in het Frans een kleine fluit, een hoofdband, een gouden munt of een soort gebakje kan betekenen: veelzijdig, resonerend en ongrijpbaar.
We zijn blij François weer in Rotterdam te hebben. In 2022 presenteerden we zijn prachtige werk Symphonia tijdens Feeling Curious?, en in 2023, in samenwerking met het O festival, het geroemde T u m u l u s.

François Chaignaud woont en werkt in Parijs. Opgeleid aan het Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse, combineert hij dans en zang, waarbij hij put uit diverse inspiratiebronnen. Zijn werk onderzoekt de mogelijkheden van het menselijk lichaam, geworteld in historische referenties van erotische literatuur tot heilige kunst.
Aymeric Hainaux is meervoudig prijswinnaar van het Franse Beatbox Kampioenschap, striptekenaar, beeldend kunstenaar en dichter, bekend om zijn intens fysieke beatboxstijl. Zijn muziek ontstaat uit zijn stem, ademhaling, spierspanning, bewegingen, hartslag en plotselinge geluidsexplosies, en viert het leven.
