The Silencing is een gevoelige verkenning van de rol van de toeschouwer in een theaterruimte. Een weerspiegeling van wat er daarbuiten gebeurt - de diepgaande impact die menselijke activiteit heeft op zijn fysieke omgeving. Op het podium ontwikkelt een groep jonge verhalenvertellers een gedeelde luisterpraktijk door autobiografische vertellingen, speculaties en audio-opnames met elkaar te verweven. Ze vullen de theaterruimte met woorden en geluiden. Tot woorden tekort schieten en er geen verhalen meer te vertellen zijn.

The Silencing is a sensitive exploration of the role of the spectator in a theatre space. It mirrors what is happening outside of it – the profound impact that human activity has on its physical surroundings. On stage, a group of young storytellers establishes a shared practice of listening by interweaving autobiographical narrations, speculations, and audio recordings. They fill the theatre space with words and sounds. Until words fail them and there are no more stories to tell.
Dat kleine, maar ontroerende verhaal, en de intimiteit van de setting geeft The Silencing een bijzondere kwaliteit. Over een groot verhaal gaat het hier niet, wel over hoe dingen klinken en binnen komen. Of niet meer klinken.
