OVUM is a dance concert about menopause and the ageing female body. The performance weaves live music, dance, cabaret and social commentary into an intense theatrical experience in which the woman appears as a transformative force, balancing between light and shadow, the mythical and the earthly.
OVUM marks Cecilia’s return to the stage: supported by two multi-disciplinary performers, she moves between mythological archetypes, physical expression and raw humour in an intence theatrical trip. OVUM follows the audience favourite PINK PORTAL (2022) and continues the feminist research where this ode to the vulva left off—this time from the perspective of an ageing woman and her inner world. The performance fits within the ongoing line of Cecilia’s work, in which she questions and redefines images of womanhood. Earlier works include Juxtapose (the “perfect woman”, 2013), Mum’s The Word and the film SHE/HER (the mother–daughter relationship, 2015), OMGYES (the female orgasm, 2016) and I Can See Myself Through Your Eyes (criticism and female self-image, 2018).
OVUM draws inspiration from Finnish mythological stories about women and from Carl Jung’s ideas on female archetypes. The performance confronts taboos surrounding womanhood, motherhood and ageing, and presents menopause not as an ending, but as a gateway: a transition toward new clarity, agency and a reclaimed voice.

OVUM volgt op de publieksfavoriet PINK PORTAL (2022) en zet het feministische onderzoek voort waar deze ode aan de vulva eindigde — ditmaal vanuit het perspectief van een ouder wordende vrouw en haar innerlijke wereld. De voorstelling past binnen de doorlopende lijn in Cecilia’s werk, waarin zij beelden van vrouw-zijn bevraagt en herdefinieert. Eerdere werken zijn onder andere Juxtapose (de “perfecte vrouw”, 2013), Mum’s The Word en de film SHE/HER (de moeder-dochterrelatie, 2015), OMGYES (het vrouwelijke orgasme, 2016) en I Can See Myself Through Your Eyes (kritiek en vrouwelijk zelfbeeld, 2018).
OVUM put inspiratie uit Finse mythologische verhalen over vrouwen en uit Carl Jungs ideeën over vrouwelijke archetypen. De voorstelling confronteert taboes rond vrouw-zijn, moederschap en ouder worden, en presenteert de menopauze niet als een einde, maar als een poort: een overgang naar nieuwe helderheid, handelingskracht en een herwonnen stem.
