A night to discover what’s next.
Instead of presenting finished performances, Welcome To Our Guesthouse invites you into the process. Expect a showcase of next-generation makers, where you’ll encounter works-in-progress: raw, unfinished and in motion. For this program, TR8 undergoes its annual transformation, becoming a vibrant landscape of new work, exciting installations, context programs and fresh encounters. Move through the building along a theatrical track, from artist to artist. A night to discover what’s next.
This year we have three exciting artists. Hendrickx Ntela is a Brussels-based Krump choreographer, exploring emptiness as a space for softness and nuance to emerge. Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit is a Vibrationalist, inventing DIY musical instruments with frequencies for immersive performances that explore memory, trauma, and colonial consciousness. Rotterdam-based dancemaker Adam Khazhmuradov uses bodies and light to decolonize and neurodiversify our experience of the theater.

Installations
Establishing a dialogue with the live performances, this curated collection of installations invites you to wander, listen, and engage with the works in new ways.
My Melted Wedding
Fay van Erp is an Amsterdam-based scenographer at Theater Rotterdam. For Welcome To Our Guesthouse a spatial installation made of lace and candle wax. Inspired by mono no aware – the Japanese concept of finding beauty in the fleeting nature of things – Fay explores melting as both a physical transformation and a way of stretching, freezing and preserving time.
Tổ Tiên (Ancestors)
Artist, researcher and poet Kwinnie Lê draws on mythology, folklore and oral histories. Tổ Tiên (Ancestors) is a series of sculptures inspired by ancient Vietnamese bronze artefacts and ancestral skin-marking (“tattoo”) traditions. Through patterned human and animal forms, the work evokes kinship with the more-than-human and explores the body’s surface as a place where knowledge can be passed on.
Conversations in Colour & Motion
Amber Rahantoknam (a.k.a. AMBIGOU) is a multidisciplinary artist working across illustration, poetry and performance. For the past seven years, she has created visual reports for Het Laatste Woord. To mark her final season, she brings these drawings together in a mural for Welcome To Our Guesthouse: a fragmented collage that forms a new story and pays tribute to the performances, installations and conversations.
Boxing Against the Binary
In Boxing Against the Binary, filmmaker Esmée van Loon introduces Queer Gym in Rotterdam—a unique space where non-normative bodies can exercise, build community, and stay active mentally and physically. The film follows founder Romy and reveals through intimate conversations how the gym fosters joy, confidence, and self-expression, underscoring its essential role within the queer community.
Pieces of a Kid
Rotterdam-based dancer, director and choreographer Ibrah Silas Jackson creates work rooted in hip-hop culture, childhood and masculinity. Pieces of a Kid portrays young Black men growing up in Rotterdam, navigating friendship, pressure, vulnerability and ambition while searching for who they want to become.
Sensing Rooftops
Sensing Rooftops brings together film, dance and installation, with footage shot on rooftops in northern Morocco and Tilburg. The project began when dancer Ilja Geelen moved to Morocco and started training on her rooftop, sparking playful interactions with her neighbors. Filmmaker Yassine Abouhamid captured one of these sessions, starting a collaboration that grew into a short film and interactive performance.
