With Cathedral, Marcos Morau, a rising star in the European theatre world, is making a new major production for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, inspired by the music of world-famous composer Arvo Pärt. The music is performed live by Sinfonia Rotterdam, which enhances the theatricality and intensity of the performance.
Cathedral asks us to reflect on the nature of existence. About the mystery of man amid the grandeur of nature and the infinite universe. Morau places the dancers in an equally impressive decor with life-size video projections and a spectacular lighting design.

À Mon Bel Amour questions our perception of the individual, the couple and the collective. Four men and four women, toy nonchalantly, strike poses, assert their identity and challenge the limits of our gaze. Eight virtuoso dancers with different cultural references, playing different archetypes. From classical ballet to voguing, krumping, popping, contemporary dance and waacking, their movements allude to fashion shows, clubbing scene, or photographic and cinematographic representation, as well as society’s trappings. In a world where we struggle to agree on values, can we find a consensus on the concept of beauty?

In 2007 in Calais, a whole family hanged themselves: the parents and their two children. Never a motive was found, the suicide note stated: "We went too far, sorry."
What reasons, what traumas underlie such a suicide? Familie is an experiment, an ethnological study of today’s private life, an exhibition of the everyday: on stage we see the house of Family Demeester – or is it the house of the Family Peeters/Miller? Together they will reconstruct the mysterious case of the Family Demesteer, following the journey of their own family, questioning the construction of family as the cell of life and origin of our world today.

In an electrically charged performance, ten dancers explore the boundaries between hip-hop, breakdance and contemporary dance. Against the backdrop of corrupt Brazilian street life, they unfurl a breathtaking composition. Initially hesitant, literally groping in the dark, the untenable tension then explodes in a storm of leaps, somersaults and headspins.

Botanical Wasteland
Take a seat in Botanical Wasteland’s lurid-green testbed. A futuristic habitat full of plastic waste and techno-garbage, in which man no longer holds centre place. In which everything is intertwined and the boundaries separating nature, technology, body and identity have been lifted.
