Choreografen uit China en Israël brengen fysieke virtuositeit en dansplezier

Voor Origin haalt artistiek directeur Ed Wubbe twee bijzondere internationale choreografen naar Nederland. Een opwindende voorstelling met invloeden uit Chinese dans, Israëlische volksdans en moderne dans. In Nederland zijn de jonge makers Gong Xingxing en Lior Tavori nog onbekend, maar dat gaat snel veranderen.

Het nieuwe dansstuk van Gong Xingxing vraagt een hoog technisch niveau van de dansers vanwege de combinatie van fysieke controle en sierlijke ontspanning. Samen met de voelbare emotionele lading weet zij de aandacht van de kijker stevig vast te houden. Xingxing behoort tot de nieuwe generatie choreografen die in China op succesvolle wijze moderne dans naar een groter publiek weet te brengen. Daartoe behoort ook de Israëlische choreograaf Lior Tavori die, behalve voor zijn eigen gezelschap, veel stukken maakt voor Chinese dansgezelschappen. Door de combinatie van volksdans en moderne dans spat het dansplezier van zijn nieuwe choreografie af.

Extra op 13 en 14 april in de foyer
In september 2023 sloegen Misiconi & Scapino Ballet Rotterdam de handen ineen voor een artistieke uitwisseling. Documentairemaker Bjorn Plooster legde de bijzondere samenwerking tussen Scapino en Misiconi vast in een mini-docu die voorafgaand aan de voorstelling in de foyer te bekijken is.

For "Origin," artistic director Ed Wubbe brings two exceptional international choreographers to the Netherlands, creating an exciting performance influenced by Chinese dance, Israeli folk dance, and modern dance. In the Netherlands, the young creators Gong Xingxing and Lior Tavori may still be unfamiliar, but that is quickly changing.

Gong Xingxing's new dance piece demands a high technical level from the dancers due to the combination of physical control and graceful relaxation. Along with the palpable emotional intensity, she skillfully captivates the viewer's attention. Xingxing belongs to the new generation of choreographers in China who successfully bring modern dance to a wider audience. This also includes the Israeli choreographer Lior Tavori, known for creating many pieces for Chinese dance companies in addition to his own company. The fusion of folk dance and modern dance exudes the joy of dance in his new choreography.
