In the hip-hop dance performance BLKDOG, choreographer Botis Seva takes you on a poetic journey, exploring the themes of coping mechanisms and the connection between childhood and adulthood in an impressive manner.

BLKDOG is a powerful and gripping experience where Botis compellingly sheds light on the challenges of growing up as a childlike artist. It is a groundbreaking blend of hip-hop dance and free expression, immersing you into the inner struggle of an aging artist who is determined to preserve their youthfulness at any cost.

The performance premiered in 2019 at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London, receiving overwhelming reactions from the audience, artists, and critics alike. In the same year, Botis Seva became the first hip-hop choreographer to win an Olivier Award for BLKDOG, one of the most prestigious awards in the British theater world, in the category of Best New Dance Production.

"Vivid and captivating," is Botis' chilling commentary on surviving adulthood as an artist. The characters' inner experiences are emphasized through a menacing, sultry soundtrack, born out of a longstanding collaboration with Torben Lars Sylvest, performed by the company Far From The Norm.

In BLKDOG, they seek ways to cope with difficulties in an ultimate quest for acceptance.

In de hiphop dansvoorstelling BLKDOG neemt choreograaf Botis Seva je mee op een poëtische reis, waarin de thema's van copingmechanismen en de connectie tussen kindertijd en volwassenheid op indrukwekkende wijze worden verkend.  

BLKDOG is een krachtige en aangrijpende ervaring, waarin Botis op indringende wijze de uitdagingen van het volwassen worden als een kinderlijke artiest belicht. Het is een grensverleggende mix van hiphopdans en vrije expressie, waarbij je wordt meegenomen naar de innerlijke strijd van een ouder wordende artiest die koste wat het kost zijn jeugdigheid wil behouden.  

De voorstelling ging in 2019 in première in Sadler's Wells Theatre in Londen met overweldigende reacties van publiek, kunstenaars en critici als resultaat. In datzelfde jaar won Botis Seva voor BLKDOG als eerste hiphop choreograaf een Olivier Award, een van de meest prestigieuze prijzen in de Britse theaterwereld, voor beste nieuw dansproductie. 

"Levendig en meeslepend", is Botis zijn huiveringwekkende commentaar op het overleven van volwassenheid als kunstenaar. Met een dreigende, broeierige soundtrack wordt de innerlijke belevingswereld van de personages benadrukt. De muziek is ontstaan uit een langdurige samenwerking met Torben Lars Sylvest en wordt uitgevoerd door het gezelschap Far From The Norm. 

In BLKDOG wordt er gezocht naar manieren om met moeilijkheden om te gaan, in een ultieme zoektocht naar acceptatie.
