Hoe overleef je in een systeem dat je van alle kanten volledig omgeeft en bepalend is voor wat kan, niet kan, wat mag of niet mag? Welk gedrag wordt er van de buitenwereld verwacht, terwijl er van binnen een onstuimige energie kolkt die je tot iets anders drijft?

How do you survive in a system that completely surrounds you on all sides and determines what is possible, what is
not, what is allowed or not allowed? What behavior is expected from the outside world, while on the inside a
turbulent energy churns that drives you toward something else?

We are here to prepare you for the world. We are made in your image. We want to follow your will, but we cannot
hear your voice, and your spirit is confusing. Do you want more nurturance or more dominance? We’re here to
practice. To work. To work it out. Competition disguised as love. Empathy mistaken for weakness. Authority that
calls itself protection. Care that demands obedience. This is a dance. This is theater. This is work.

Asset, Liability & Equity is ARK/Connor Schumacher's first production since Raging Against Various Elements,
winner of the 2025 Zwaan for 'most impressive dance production of the year'.

Asset, Liability & Equity is partly a tightly and brilliantly designed, virtuosically performed choreography, but it
may also evoke a sense of discomfort. In an absurdist spectacle with the intensity of an arena, the presenter, the
MC of the performance, creates an environment in which dancers and audience together feel the toll of capital,
entertainment, status and gratification. In this new production, Connor Schumacher challenges the audience to be
more than a voyeur and makes them an active participant of the offering.

You'll love it, you'll hate it, but the question is: how much can you take?


We komen samen en bezinnen op de (huidige staat van de)wereld. Onze (gezamenlijke) wereld volgens jouw (eigen) beeld. Wij willen wel begrijpen wat er speelt, maar we kunnen het ook maar moeilijk aanhoren, en de vele beelden verwarren ons. Concurrentie verpakt als liefde. Empathie verward met zwakte. Autoriteit die zogenaamd beschermd. Verzorging die onderdanigheid eist. Het is een dans; choreografie, improvisatie, het is theater. Dit is werk.

Asset, Liability & Equity is de eerste productie van ARK/Connor Schumacher sinds het gezelschap in 2025 De Zwaan voor 'meest indrukwekkende dansproductie van het jaar' won voor Raging Against Various Elements.

Asset, Liability & Equity is deels een strak en sprankelend vormgegeven, virtuoos uitgevoerde choreografie, maar kan ook een ongemakkelijk gevoel oproepen. In een absurdistisch schouwspel met de intensiteit van een arena creëert de presentator, de MC van de voorstelling, een omgeving waarin dansers en publiek samen de tol voelen van kapitaal, entertainment, status en bevrediging. In deze nieuwe productie daagt Connor Schumacher het publiek uit om meer te zijn dan een voyeur en maakt hen tot een actieve deelnemer van het aanbod.

Rijk uit. Ga het aan. Laat ons verantwoordelijkheid nemen voor dit alles. You’ll love it/you’ll hate it, maar de vraag blijft: Kan je het aan?
