In juni 2023 reist internationaal danstalent van over de hele wereld naar Rotterdam voor de vijfde editie van de Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC). Een must voor alle dansliefhebbers! Zestien choreografische talenten presenteren veelzijdige, innovatieve en opmerkelijke duetten, terwijl ze zich inzetten voor veelbelovende prijzen. De competitie
RIDCC is zeer verheugd om deze dynamische en unieke competitie te presenteren, waar zestien uitverkorenen zich inzetten voor veelbelovende prijzen. Tijdens de voorrondes op 22 en 23 juni bent u getuige van zestien duetten, in alle mogelijke dansstijlen. Op zaterdag 24 juni sluiten we het festival af met een grootse finale, waarin u de duetten ziet die zijn geselecteerd door een gerenommeerde jury. Uit deze geselecteerde duetten bepaalt de jury de winnaar van de XL Productie Award, terwijl de partners van RIDCC uit alle zestien deelnemers de winnaars van de zogeheten Partner Awards kiezen. Tot slot bepaalt u, onder het genot van een drankje en een hapje, welke talentvolle choreograaf de Publieksprijs verdient. Oud-danser en Nederlandse acteur Jan Kooijman houdt het publiek in spanning en maakt tijdens een feestelijke prijsuitreiking de winnaars van het festival bekend. Extra onderdeel van deze aankomende editie is het optreden van 2018 RIDCC-deelnemers Anna Jacobs and Hanna Van Der Meer, aka Lunatics and Poets. Opmerkelijk is dat Lunatics and Poets zich hebben ontwikkeld tot een van de meest in het oog springende en succesvolle jonge choreografen van onze tijd. Speciaal voor RIDCC 2023 presenteren ze hun prachtige werk The People Look Like Flowers At Last. RIDCC nodigt u graag uit voor deze exclusieve reis om het werk van een nieuwe generatie danskunstenaars te ontdekken!

De prijzen
De winnaar van de hoofdprijs, de XL Productie Award (ter waarde van € 100.000) krijgt de unieke mogelijkheid om een nieuwe, autonome productie te maken bij Scapino Ballet Rotterdam met garantie op een tournee door het land. 

De partners van RIDCC, nationaal en internationaal gerenommeerde gezelschappen, kiezen de winnaars van de Partner Awards. De deelnemende partners die in 2023 een Award uitreiken: Avant Garde Dance (Londen UK), Club Guy & Roni, Codarts Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst, Dansateliers, Maas Theater & Dans, Het Nationale Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, MiR Dance Company Gelsenkirchen (Duitsland), SALLY en Skånes Dansteater (Malmö Zweden).

Tot slot bepaalt u, ons publiek, welke talentvolle choreograaf de Publieksprijs verdient.

In June 2023 international dance talent from all over the world will travel to Rotterdam for the fifth edition of the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC). A must for all dance lovers! Sixteen choreographic talents present multi-styled, innovative, and remarkable duets, while competing for outstanding awards. Book your tickets and discover the work of a new generation of dance artists in Theater Rotterdam!

The competition
RIDCC is very excited to present this vibrant and unique event, where sixteen chosen ones will compete for outstanding awards. During the preliminaries on June 22rd and 23th you will witness the sixteen, multi-styled duets. On Saturday June 24th we conclude the festival with a grand finale, showing the duets selected by a renowned jury. From these selected duets, the jury will determine the winner of the XL Production Award, while RIDCC’s partners choose the winners of the Partner Awards from all sixteen participants. Finally, while enjoying drinks and a bite to eat, you will decide which talented choreographer gets granted the Audience Award. Former dancer and Dutch actor Jan Kooijman will keep the audience in suspense, announcing the festival’s winners during a festive award ceremony. An extra feature of this upcoming edition will be the performance of 2018 RIDCC participants Anna Jacobs and Hanna Van Der Meer, aka Lunatics and Poets. Remarkably, Lunatics and Poets has developed into one of the most eye-catching and successful young choreographers of our time and, specifically for RIDCC 2023, they will present their beautiful work The People Look Like Flowers At Last. RIDCC looks forward to taking you on this exclusive journey to discover the work of a new generation of dance artists!


The awards 
The winner of the main prize, the XL Production Award (with a value of €100,000) will receive the unique opportunity to make a new, autonomous production at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam with a guarantee of a tour through the country.

The partners of RIDCC, nationally and internationally renowned companies, select the winners of the Partner Awards. The participating partners in 2023 are Avant Garde Dance (London UK), Club Guy & Roni, Codarts Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst, Dansateliers, Maas Theater & Dans, Dutch National Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, MiR Dance Company Gelsenkirchen (Germany), SALLY and Skånes Dansteater (Malmö Sweden). 

Finally, you, our audience, will decide which talented choreographer deserves the Audience Award.
