RIDCC biedt niet alleen een podium aan nieuw choreografietalent, maar ook aan oud-deelnemers die zich de afgelopen jaren sterk hebben ontwikkeld. Met RIDCC Brings Back verwelkomt het festival makers met wie een bijzondere artistieke band is ontstaan. Vier jaar na zijn deelname keert Dereck Cayla terug naar RIDCC met zijn installatie Dancing Contours.

RIDCC not only offers a platform for new choreographic talent, but also for former participants who have grown significantly over the past years. With RIDCC Brings Back, the festival welcomes artists with whom a special artistic connection has been built. Four years after his participation, Dereck Cayla returns to RIDCC with his installation Dancing Contours.

A hypnotic fusion of drawing, movement, and video

Step into Dancing Contours, a unique installation where the body transcends its own boundaries. Through layered drawings and video projections, life-sized portraits come to life, blurring the lines between self and image, presence and absence. This poetic exploration of movement and identity invites you to pause and reflect on how we perceive ourselves, and what might lie beyond.

As a special side event of the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC), Dancing Contours transforms the foyer of Theater Rotterdam into a living, breathing canvas. Wander through this enchanting space and experience the seamless meeting of dance, visual art, and technology.

Dancing Contours
Een hypnotische samensmelting van tekenkunst, beweging en video

Stap binnen in Dancing Contours, een bijzondere installatie waarin het lichaam zijn eigen grenzen overstijgt. Met gelaagde tekeningen en videoprojecties komen levensgrote portretten tot leven en vervagen de lijnen tussen zelf en beeld, tussen aanwezigheid en afwezigheid. Deze poëtische verkenning van beweging en identiteit nodigt je uit om stil te staan bij hoe we onszelf waarnemen, en wat daar misschien nog achter schuilgaat.

Als speciaal programma van de Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) verandert Dancing Contours de foyer van Theater Rotterdam in een levend, ademend canvas. Dwaal door deze betoverende ruimte en ervaar de vloeiende ontmoeting tussen dans, beeldende kunst en technologie.
