Tijdens haar psychoses die ze had beleefde Gioia haar mooiste dromen en haar zwartste nachtmerries. Een regelmatig leven houdt haar verankerd in de realiteit, maar laat dat nog wel ruimte voor verbeelding? 

Choreograaf Liat Waysbort borduurt met Gioia live voort op de filmdocumentaire van Laura Stek, die Gioia’s beleving van de wereld indrukwekkend vastlegde. In de voorstelling Gioia live stuwen dans, video en audio elkaar op in de zoektocht naar de grens tussen waan en werkelijkheid. Fantasievolle hoogte- en dieptepunten wisselen elkaar af en botsen met de nuchtere realiteit. De krachtige bewegingstaal van Mara Hulspas en de poëtische, humorvolle en vaak ontnuchterende reflecties van Gioia op haar psychoses vloeien samen in een intense en persoonlijke mix van dans en documentair theater. Een voorstelling die de autonomie van het individu viert.

During her psychoses Gioia experienced her most beautiful dreams and her blackest nightmares.  A regular life keeps her in reality, but what does it to do her imagination? 

Choreographer Liat Waysbort's work builds on Laura Stek's film documentary, which impressively captures Gi-oia's experience of the world. In the performance Gioia Live, dance, video and audio push each other up in the search for the boundary between delusion and reality. Fantastic heights and dramatic lows alternate and crash with the banality of everyday life. Mara Hulspas' warm, elusive and powerful movements and Gioia's poetic, humorous and dry reflections on her psychoses merge into an intense and personal mix of dance and documen-tary theatre. A performance that celebrates the autonomy of the individual.
