When she enters a room, you are not the only one who notices. She is impossible to miss, yet somehow remains elusive. You catch glimpses of her throughout the night. Maybe she asks you for a light.

Wanneer ze een ruimte binnenkomt, ben jij niet de enige die haar opmerkt. Ze is onmogelijk over het hoofd te zien en blijft tegelijkertijd op de een of andere manier ongrijpbaar. Gedurende de avond vang je steeds een glimp van haar op. Misschien vraagt ze je om een vuurtje.

Misschien hoor je haar lach aan de andere kant van de ruimte. Misschien strijk je langs haar heen op de dansvloer, of vang je een spoor van haar parfum op terwijl ze in de menigte verdwijnt. Misschien tref je haar bij de toilethokjes aan in een compromitterende situatie. Heel even kruisen jullie werelden elkaar.

Maar je ziet nooit hoe haar nacht eindigt. Je ziet haar nooit haar weg naar huis vinden. Je komt nooit te weten waar ze naartoe gaat wanneer de muziek stopt. En toch, de volgende keer dat je uitgaat, is ze er weer.

P4rTy GWoRLz N3v4h Di3 brengt zes performers uit het nachtleven samen in een performancespektakel dat zich beweegt tussen dans, theater, performancekunst en luchtacrobatiek. Vanuit de figuur van de party girl bewonen zij een universum van transformatie, overdaad, vriendschap, verlangen en glorieuze imperfectie.

Een ode aan brave spaces, radicale vriendschap, spectaculair falen, transformatie en lichaamsvloeistoffen.

 

Maybe you overhear her laugh from across the room. Maybe you brush past her on the dance floor or catch a trace of her perfume as she disappears into the crowd. Perhaps you encounter her in a compromising situation near the bathroom stalls. For a brief moment, your worlds overlap.  

But you never see how the night ends for her. You never see her finding her way home. You never learn where she goes when the music stops. And yet, the next time you go out, she is there again.  

P4rTy GWoRLz N3v4h Di3 brings together six performers from the nightlife scene together in a performance spectacle that moves between dance, theatre, performance art and aerial performance. Departing from the figure of the party girl they inhabit a universe of transformation, excess, friendship, desire and glorious imperfection.  

An ode to brave spaces, radical friendship, spectacular failure, transformation and bodily fluids.

Over Vincent Riebeek

Vincent Riebeek (NL) is choreograaf, performer en theatermaker en woont en werkt in Amsterdam. Hij studeerde Choreografie aan de SNDO (School for New Dance Development) en behaalde een master aan DAS Theatre. Met meer dan vijftien jaar ervaring maakt hij provocatief werk dat de grenzen tussen dans, performance en theater bevraagt. Hij verwierf voor het eerst bekendheid door zijn samenwerkingen met Florentina Holzinger, met wie hij vanaf 2010 een reeks invloedrijke en grensverleggende performances creëerde. Tijdens zijn studie en aan het begin van zijn carrière werd hij begeleid door performance-iconen als Ivo Dimchev en ontwikkelde hij zijn praktijk naast kunstenaars die zich in de voorhoede van de hedendaagse performancekunst bevinden. Als performer was hij te zien in werk van onder anderen Tino Sehgal en Choy Ka Fai.

Zijn werk balanceert op de grens tussen kunst en entertainment en onderzoekt hoe lichamen worden gevormd door sociale, morele en esthetische normen, en hoe zij die structuren kunnen bevragen, herconfigureren en zich opnieuw kunnen toe-eigenen. Riebeek is oorspronkelijk autodidact als performer en blijft bewust een buitenstaandersperspectief omarmen. Hij werkt regelmatig samen met performers die hun kennis en praktijk buiten de institutionele danscontext hebben ontwikkeld. Recentelijk maakte hij bij theatercollectief De Warme Winkel zijn debuut als zowel eindregisseur als Nederlandstalig acteur.

Voor Not Another Shit Show: P4rTy GWoRLz N3v4h Di3 edition brengt Riebeek een groep performers uit het nachtleven samen met wie hij de afgelopen jaren heeft samengewerkt. De cast bestaat uit Nica Roses (AR/NL), performancekunstenaar, afgestudeerd aan de Dirty Art Department van het Sandberg Instituut en kernlid van Young Boy Dancing Group; Mavi Veloso (BR/NL), transdisciplinair kunstenaar, performer en zanger en momenteel resident aan de Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten; Slim Soledad (BR/DE), internationaal gevierde dj, producer, zanger en performer uit São Paulo, wiens praktijk zich beweegt tussen de internationale clubcultuur, performance en theater en geworteld is in baile funk, techno en vocale performance; Aryelle Freeman Hopelezz (JM/NL), performer, dragartiest, drag mother en prominent figuur binnen het House of Hopelezz; en Kéwè K. Bonono (FR/CM), danser, choreograaf en schrijver die de intensiteit van ritueel combineert met de presence van een clubicoon.

 

About Vincent Riebeek

Vincent Riebeek (NL) is a choreographer, performer and theatre maker based in Amsterdam. He studied Choreography at SNDO (School for New Dance Development) and holds a Master’s degree from DAS Theatre. With more than fifteen years of experience, he creates provocative work that questions the boundaries of dance, performance and theatre. He first gained recognition through his collaborations with Florentina Holzinger, with whom he co-created a series of influential and boundary-pushing performances from 2010 onwards. During his studies and early career, he was mentored by performance icons such as Ivo Dimchev and developed his practice alongside artists working at the forefront of contemporary performance. As a performer, he has appeared in works by artists including Tino Sehgal and Choy Ka Fai. His work balances on the line between art and entertainment and investigates how bodies are shaped by social, moral and aesthetic norms, and how they can question, reconfigure and reclaim those structures. Originally self-taught as a performer, he continues to embrace an outsider perspective and regularly collaborates with performers who have developed their knowledge and practice outside institutional dance contexts. Most recently, he made his debut as both final director and Dutch-language actor with theatre collective De Warme Winkel.  

For Not Another Shit Show: P4rTy GWoRLz N3v4h Di3 edition, Riebeek brings together a group of nightlife performers with whom he has collaborated over recent years. The cast includes Nica Roses (AR/NL), performance artist, graduate of the Sandberg Institute’s Dirty Art Department and core member of Young Boy Dancing Group; Mavi Veloso (BR/NL), transdisciplinary artist, performer, singer and current resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten; Slim Soledad (BR/DE), global DJ sensation, producer, singer and performer from São Paulo, whose practice moves between international club culture, performance and theatre and is rooted in baile funk, techno, and vocal performance; Aryelle Freeman Hopelezz (JM/NL), performer, drag artist, drag mother and prominent figure within the House of Hopelezz; and Kéwè K. Bonono (FR/CM), dancer, choreographer and writer who combines the intensity of ritual with the presence of a club icon.
